Bodily injury and property damage liability covers your liability for an at fault accident that involves injury to another person up to the limits of liability that you’ve selected. Property Damage covers the property damage that you are liable to pay. In WA state the minimum limits of Liability that are required by law are 25/50/10, what this to means to you is that for BI your policy would only pay up to $25,000 per injured person no more than $50,000 per accident and up to $10,000 of Property Damage.
Who pays for the injuries in an accident?
When an accident occurs the at-fault driver in the accident as the obligation to the company to report the accident. The company representing the at fault driver then will pay up to the limits of the policy if required. If you chose the the state minimum your company would pay the bodily injury of each passenger up to $25,000 not to exceed the 50,000 per accident. If the injury limit per person exceeds the 25,000 the excess would be covered by the at fault party*. If the injury limit per accident exceeds the 50,000 the at fault party would be responsible for the excess.

The property damage is covered by the at fault Party. If you chose the the state minimum your company would pay the property damage up to $10,000. If the car’s damage exceed the $10,000 the excess would be come out of the at faults party pocket. To clear up any confusion before we continue the at fault party involves the driver and the registered owner regardless if he was the driving or not.
